on line gambling - is it worth it?
Poker, oh how easy it is to get hooked!
I for a couple of years, played poker on line. Just for fun really, but always with the hope that I might win big someday.
On the poker sites I frequented ( there are many out there) there was always a special offer, a carrot being dangled, to get you to play more. Very often this was "free money" given to you to keep playing at their site. As you play more frequently at some of these sites, the rewards if I can call them that, get bigger.Many of the sites have casinos attached to them and if you are waiting for a poker tournament to start, you venture into them and spend even more money! without realising it, you begin to get hooked. Yes you have the occasional win, but instead of quitting while you are ahead, you try to win again....but lose. Attracted by the big payouts and the constant messages of congratulations to those that have won big, you pay more money in. Next time, it will be you winning big. or will it? Then something in your life changes, maybe a big bill comes in or a tax demand. Having won a few times before, you are convinced that you can win enough to pay off the bills...before you know it, you don't have enough money for housekeeping let alone the extra bill. Next you have to explain to your wife. Before you know what's happening, your marriage has broken down and you are living on your own with time to reflect. Was it worth it?
